PUBLIC RELATIONS SEQUENCE

Considered one of the top programs in the country, the Public Relations program at Ball State University is one of only a small number of schools to be a Certified Education in Public Relations (CEPR), following the guidelines set forth by the Public Relations Society of America.

Combining theoretical and practical approaches to public relations, the major is one of the largest in the Department of Journalism. Students are prepared through coursework and practical experience in ethics, strategic planning, law, design and writing; at the same time augmenting their skills with experiences in sociology, advertising, marketing and communications studies. Students learn public relations from a multicultural perspective, embracing diversity in all forms in their strategic communication.

Our graduates go on to successful careers in corporate, agency, nonprofit, healthcare, trade associations, financial and other areas in public relations. Many of our students move quickly into leadership roles, as the curriculum trains them to not only to be excellent practitioners, but also thoughtful leaders.

Students gain experience working with clients in classes, through immersive learning opportunities and through Cardinal Communications, our student-run integrated marketing communications agency.
